All Seasons Jakarta Thamrin Hotel
I often stay at the All Seasons Jakarta Thamrin Hotel during my business trips to Jakarta and there is a reason why I keep coming back (in fact I am writing this entry while still here). It is part of the Accor Group and my experience with the Accor Group of hotels is usually quite good.
This is a relatively new hotel and it has a modern design with bright colors in the lobby and corridors that makes it cheerful and welcoming. At the same time, the rooms are designed with an understated darker shade of colors which gives it the cosy, business hotel look.
Location
All Seasons Jakarta Thamrin Hotel is located in Central Jakarta and is near the central business district, as well as within walking distance to malls such as Grand Indonesia and Plaza Indonesia. Although it is within 10 minutes walking distance, I recommend taking a taxi that can often be found outside the hotel. This is especially so after dark where you can’t see the pavements clearly. There is also a stretch of road leading to the malls where it is cramped and while trying to walk around the many parked bikes by the roadside, you will probably end up on the roads which may be quite dangerous. Because of that I always try to get a taxi to get to and from the malls, walking not recommended after dark.
I feel that the location is great for the price. It is near to the good malls, near to the many offices, not too far from attractions such as the national museum, and victory monument. The other minor inconvenience is that there are no minimarts around the hotel, or at least I have not found any yet. So I will always get what I need to get from the nearby Grand Indonesia.
Facilities
Being a no frills business hotel, the hotel does have the usual facilities such as a restaurant, free WiFi, parking for those who drive, laundry service, and even a mini gym. The gym is small, consisting of only a treadmill and some other machines.
What is more entertaining is the SkyLoft restaurant and bar which is located on the top floor of the hotel. From the restaurant and the open bar, you get a panoramic view of the bustling city while enjoying a drink or a meal. It is really quite nice and I’ve spent many a nights at the outdoor bar drinking Bintang and watching the world go by 12 (or was it 13) storeys below you.

This is where All Seasons Jakarta Thamrin Hotel shine.
The rooms are painted a nice warm shade and is equipped with a wall mounted LCD TV, hair dryer, in-room safe, mini fridge, complimentary coffee/tea facilities, bedside lightings, wall plugs that cater to the international traveller, and many more.
I especially like the bed which is not too soft and the pillows are fluffy. The bedside lights are a thoughtful addition and it is especially handy when you want to do some reading before turning in.

The full length windows allow you to have a good view of the outside world while letting in a good amount of light. They’ve also done a great job soundproofing the room because while it is near a major road, I can’t hear much of what’s happening below. I really appreciated the silence of the room after a long day at work.
You may have noticed that the shower is separated from the toilet, which is neat if you are sharing the room. By cleverly positioning the wash basin outside the bathroom, they are able to create the impression of having a bigger room than its stated 22 sqm space. The only complain I have is that on some occasions, the pressure for the hot waters seems inconsistent and I wasn’t able to get a really hot shower when I really wanted to.

I have always enjoyed staying in All Seasons Jakarta Thamrin Hotel and I will continue to unless they raise their prices a lot or if the standards drop drastically.
For the price, you get a great location, comfortable beds, free breakfast, quiet and well equipped rooms, excellent service and free wifi, so why not?
